Sri Ramachandra Medical Center

had its inception in the year 1985 as a private not-for-profit self-financing institution and it was dedicated to serve the society as a centre of excellence with emphasis on medical education, research and health care.

Sri Ramachandra Hospital Campus:

The 200 acres campus has Medical, Dental, Nursing, Allied health Science, Physiotherapy and Health management colleges besides the 1600 bedded hospital. About 2000 students and doctors stay within the campus hence it is fully self sufficient. It has many restaurants, shops, Banks, post-office, cyber-cafes and an ATM machine. 24 hours electricity and water is available.

The campus is well maintained and has a lot of greenery. Porur town is within a kilometer. A small lake is next to the hospital. The main city center is about 12 Kms from the campus. It is very well linked with transport that is available almost round the clock.

Accommodation :

This is available within the sprawling 200 acres campus of the hospital. Single rooms are available at a nominal cost. For longer stay flats near the hospital are available.

Coming to Madras or Chennai, India from Abroad

  • If coming from abroad please check with the India High commission office regarding visa requirements to travelling to India

  • Air-India and British Airways has direct flights to Chennai or Madras from London. Other airlines touching Chennai include- Luftansa, Emirates, Singapore, Malaysian and Mauritius airlines.

  • If you intimate the department in advance an airport pick-up an be arranged.

  • The hospital is about 10 kms from the Airport. A taxi should cost you a maximum if Rs.150.00 (Approx. US$ 3)

  • If you are arriving by train, the railway station is about 15 kms from the hospital. You can take a three wheeler auto from the station. It will cost you again about Rs.150.00. You may have to bargain with the auto driver.

  • On arrival at the Hospital ask for SRMC Annexe building. Normally the accommodation is arranged in this building. If you have problems contact the hospital PRO (Ms.Sashikala) or contact the Casualty or Accident and Emergency department.

  • Follow instructions regarding taking vaccines if coming from abroad

  • You are advised to use bottled mineral water. If you are coming in the summer months you should drink adequately to avoid dehydration. Avoid eating salads and uncooked food items. Fruits are very safe.

  • Chennai is relatively safe city however if you are coming late in the night please use public transport.

Please Read the following instructions if coming to the Hospital to see the doctor:

1. Please bring all your previous health papers or file with all the reports. Don't forget to bring your previous X-rays and Scans if you have.

2. On arriving at the hospital visit the first floor registration counter and register yourself under the concerned doctor. A file with the doctor's name will be provided to you.

3. Urology department is located on the second floor of the main hospital building. It is called B2 ward.

4. On visiting the department one of the staff will take your history and ask for some investigations if necessary. Once this has been done the concerned doctor will see you.
