Ureter:   Ureteric False Passage
Ureteric False Passage

This occurs as a complication of ureteroscopic procedure. This complication is usually observed in cases of stone impaction. The ureter at the site of stone impaction is often inflamed and edematous and hence is more prone for easy damage. It can be avoided by using a safety guide wire across the site of stone. Treatment: Leaving a DJ stent across the site of ureteral injury for 4-6 weeks, allows the ureteral mucosa to heal well.
