Stone in ureter, which is bigger in size cannot be removed directly, so the lithoclast is used to fragment the stone inside the ureter itself. The usual procedure is, first telescopic inspection of the ureter done to visualise the stone. then visualised stone is broken with lithoclast which is a machine which breaks the stone by air pressure without damaging the inner lining of the tube ureter. Complications involved are Infection, Bleeding, Injury to the ureter, Stricture
